Things to Do in Baltimore

Looking for the best things to do in Baltimore? We've got you covered.

Rachel Jamison Webster will look at the eleven generations that followed the acclaimed African American mathematician and astronomer Benjamin Banneker.  The noted scholar was hired by Thomas Jefferson to survey Washington, DC, in 1791 and would later pen a letter to Jefferson asking him to reflect on his hypocrisy as a slave owner.   The author reveals her genealogical connection to Banneker and explores the many others, both Black and white, who share her family lineage.

Rachel Jamison Webster is a creative writing professor at Northwestern University.  Her writing has appeared in numerous publications, including the Yale Review and Tin House
