"Community Leaders Equip Young Ladies for Leadhership at the Princess Within Conference”
Baltimore, Maryland – Tuesday, September 10, 2019, The Princess Within 6th girls conference takes place Saturday, October 19, 2019 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Girls Scouts of Central Maryland campus in Baltimore. The conference offers young ladies free workshops, entertainment and self-esteem building activities in a celebratory atmosphere.
Exhibitors offer community resources, along with workshops being presented by instructors with expertise in career, entrepreneurship, goal setting, health (presented by Aetna), décor, jewelry making, purity, safety and vision board design. A keynote speaker highlights the lunch and learn along with a writing and publishing panel discussion ‘GirlPOWWER of the Pen’, featuring writing and publishing industry professionals and moderated by former CNN travel show producer, the multimedia maven Kalin Thomas. This year’s theme “Equipping Young Ladies for Leadhership” encourages, educates and empowers girls to embrace their leadership traits. Free registration for young ladies 18 years old and younger is available at girlsrpearls.eventbrite.com.
Special guests include Baltimore Councilwoman Elect Tamira Dunn, representatives from the Girl Scouts, Pageant organizations and more. “A positive mindset, mentoring, goal setting and a healthy self-esteem are key to a girls’ transition from pre-adolescence to teen, and into young adulthood. Offering a strategic level of support causes girls to thrive and prevents increased prison populations, substance abuse, human trafficking, violence, homelessness and hopelessness,” states DaRonda McDuffie, event host and former youth director.
Teens participate in a hair design demonstration and competition, fashion show hosted by Faith & Fashion Week, (a faith-based event that increases awareness on wholesome, tasteful and hot trends), and break for door prizes, entertainment and shopping throughout the day.
