The Maryland Center for History and Culture explores the enduring, wide-reaching, and intergenerational appeal of Jim Henson (1936 – 1990). A Marylander and University of Maryland alum, Henson’s innovations in storytelling revolutionized children’s education through programs like the “Sesame Street” and “The Muppets”; and his work including “Fraggle Rock” and “Dark Crystal” had a profound impact on generations of people.
For decades, Henson’s genius has made its way daily into millions of homes educating and entertaining children of all ages. Parents, children and grandparents will delight at the opportunity to view the familiar and adored products of that genius. From May 26 – December 30, 2023, the Maryland Center for History and Culture presents 5,000-square-feet of Muppet-filled multimedia, in an exhibition full of hundreds of objects, including puppets, character sketches, storyboards, scripts, costumes, and film and television clips.
