About the Artists

Hannah Mayer is a pianist and composer from the San Francisco Bay Area, and a recent graduate of Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore. Hannah has performed around the country and has been a member of national ensembles through Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, and SFJAZZ. Hannah takes a lot of inspiration from theatre, and recently released an album of improvisational impressions on the music of Stephen Sondheim ("Hannah Mayer & Friends Play Sondheim" - out on all streaming platforms!). Hannah also has a love for Brazilian music, and this performance will be a set of Brazilian Popular Music favorites (MPB) featuring Nico Wohl on guitar, Steve Arnold on bass, and Mike Kuhl on drums.

Vector Field is a modern jazz project that brings contemporary musical influences into the context of the post-bop lineage. The music delves into complex emotional spaces while remaining firmly rooted in the pocket of the jazz tradition, and explores the role of improvisation and dance music within communities as a tool to challenge convention and share lived experiences through artistic engagement. Across the first three full-length releases, Vector Field has quickly established a shape-shifting modus operandi, constantly investigating varied instrumentations and conceptual frameworks for the storytelling of each album, with an increasingly diverse cast of collaborators orbiting core members Ethan Ditthardt, Alex Souris, and Pete Fucinaro.
