Many times, when a youth is entering foster care, has been removed from their home for allegations of abuse, or is facing homelessness, they are forced to move from house to house with all their personal belongings in nothing but a black garbage bag. Comfort Cases, a national foster care charity, set out to change that by providing children with a Comfort XL, a large capacity 33” collapsible duffel bag to replace the practice of using trash bags, and a Comfort Case, their own backpack or duffel bag with personal items such as pajamas, a soft blanket, toiletries, dental hygiene kits, a book and a stuffed animal, among other items.
A vintage trolley, donated by ZBest Worldwide, will be parked in front of Royal Sonesta Harbor Court on Light Street and volunteers and staff will be on site the entire day to accept donations to include backpacks, blankets, stuffed animals, pajamas, specific content items as well as monetary contributions. In addition, there will be local dignitaries and celebrity athletes there to help with promoting the event and “stuffing the trolley.” For more information, visit www.comfortcases.org or call 301-605-7813.
