Hungry Harvest’s Produce to the People Road Trip - Donation Event

This summer, Hungry Harvest is getting back to its roots with an inaugural seasonal Produce to the People Road Trip to fight hunger and give back to its farmers and communities. At each of its three stops, Hungry Harvest will connect the dots from farm to those in need by recovering fruits and veggies from local farms and making donations of bulk produce and food boxes to local hunger-fighting organizations. Community events will celebrate the impact with good food and good people raising awareness and money for a good cause.

  • Every stop on Hungry Harvest’s Produce to the People Road Trip helps support smaller farms and organizations that often get overlooked, rescues produce and establishes a sustainable ongoing program to fight hunger with produce donations and Emergency Food Box distributions.
  • In Baltimore, Hungry Harvest has partnered with local community organization Baltimore Hunger Project to help ensure it has consistent access to fresh produce through the rest of the year.
  • Friday, June 18: Hungry Harvest will be recovering produce from local farms and dropping off 500 Emergency Food Boxes at Padonia International Elementary to support underserved communities.
  • Thursday, June 24:  Hungry Harvest is hosting a community event, which will include food demos, food-themed media and video games, food trucks/food providers, swag bag giveaways, and other family-friendly activities.
    • Hosted by Union Craft Brewing.
    • No entry fee. Attendees can donate to benefit Baltimore Hunger Project at the event.
    • All proceeds will benefit the Produce to the People Road Trip partners, including Baltimore Hunger Project, to provide weekly produce from Hungry Harvest for their food access programming through 2021.
    • For those who can’t attend in person or who live outside the Baltimore area, you can donate via online fundraiser to match Hungry Harvest's contributions and help support the efforts.

By the end of 2021, Hungry Harvest’s goal is to deliver 20,000 pounds of produce directly to food insecure families through its partner organizations like Baltimore Hunger Project and rescue 10,000 pounds of additional produce from distressed farms and deliver it to food pantries.
