Artist Don Joint celebrates the many figurines of German porcelain collected by two generations of Evergreen’s Garrett family in this special exhibition that juxtaposes objects from the museum’s collection with his own 68-foot glass mosaic. The intricate patterns in Joint's mosaic both echo and diverge from the sprightly eighteenth- and nineteenth-century figurines produced by the Meissen company, prompting visitors to reconsider these objects that are so often dismissed as kitsch.
Exhibition is free with guided museum tour ($8) or $3 for exhibition only. Museum is open Tuesday-Friday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday, 12-4 p.m. Last tour of the day departs at 3 p.m.
