Delve below decks to the sick bay aboard the USS Constellationand serve as “assistant surgeon” in a simulated surgery as you learn about naval medicine during the Civil War. Ship’s surgeon Brad Stone will describe various medical theories and practices used during the War, how they affected sailors and how they relate to today’s medicine.
Brad Stone combines his interest in the Civil War and medical history by volunteering as a docent on a regular basis at both the National Museum of Civil War Medicine in Frederick, MD and aboard the USS Constellation in Baltimore Harbor.
