About this Event

The Art Under the Spire committee is pleased to announce an exhibit of local artist, Dorothy Masom. The Opening Reception is Sunday, November 4, 2018, from 11:45 PM to 1:30 PM in Reid Chapel of First and Franklin Presbyterian Church, Baltimore, MD.
Dorothy Masom, an encaustic art painter, is considered one of America’s most distinguished contemporary artists. Encaustic painting is a process of painting with pigmented melted waxes first developed by the Egyptians, and Ms. Masom is a true pioneer in the revival of this fascinating medium. She has had hundreds of solo shows and numerous exhibits in museums, galleries and universities. In addition, Ms. Masom has authored several articles and a book "Encaustic Painting" published by Burgess Publishing. She has also conducted numerous workshops and continues to lecture extensively.
"Dorothy Masom, a show of strength in a delicate profusion of colors." ~ The New York Times
We are excited to have Dorothy Masom exhibiting in our chapel gallery and encourage all to meet and learn about her work in this ancient medium.
